February 9, 2024 Weekly Digest: Recent News from the PA Wilds
The PA Wilds Weekly Digest is a roundup of news articles about the PA Wilds, the region’s public lands and its Landscapes and Journeys that have been published over the past week.
Note: some of the news websites may have paywalls that prevent you from reading their content.
Enjoy this week’s PA Wilds News Clips below.
Please be aware that there will be no news digest next Friday (February 16). Instead, the news clips from February 10-23 will be included in a news digest on February 23 that contains two weeks’ worth of news instead.
In the PA Wilds Center news, there are two major updates: the placement of an ERC fellow and the start of developing a PA Wilds trail book.
We’re proud to announce that the PA Wilds Center was selected for an ERC Fellow placement to help advance rural PA’s outdoor recreation sector over the next 2.5 years. Please help us welcome our fellow, Marc Wilken from Philadelphia.
The PA Wilds Center is partnering with Keystone Trails Association to create a hiking book. For this phase of the project, the Center is seeking public feedback on memorable trails in PA Wilds. Please submit your favorite hiking trail by the deadline, February 29, here: https://bit.ly/PA-Wilds-Trail-Survey.
On the PAWilds.com blog, Warren happens to be home to both Pennsylvania’s 2024 Trail of the Year and 2024 River of the Year, the Trails at Jakes Rocks and the Allegheny River! Also on the PAWilds.com blog, check out plans for DCNR’s ATV Regional Trail Connector program.
