September 27, 2024 Weekly Digest: Recent News from the PA Wilds

The PA Wilds Weekly Digest is a roundup of news articles about the PA Wilds, the region’s public lands and its Landscapes and Journeys that have been published over the past week.

Note: some of the news websites may have paywalls that prevent you from reading their content.

Enjoy this week’s PA Wilds News Clips below.

On the PA Wilds visitor-facing blog, Lou Bernard talks about silver that was lost in the PA Wilds and says he hasn’t found buried treasure… yet. Lou also will begin his annual “Ghosts of the PA Wilds” series each Thursday in October.

Also on the PA Wilds blog, Tia DeShong shares a beautiful metaphor about migrating monarch butterflies and the joy of raising kids in the PA Wilds.

On the PA Wilds Center blog, you are invited to attend the “Second Look” event to celebrate the new colorblind viewfinders and renovated PA Wilds Conservation Shop at Leonard Harrison State Park on October 10. The PA Wilds Center also shares how staff celebrated PA Trails Month at a few trails-related events, such as the Western PA Trails and Greenways Summit and the official dedication of the Trails at Jakes Rocks as the PA Trail of the Year.

On the PA Wilds Marketplace blog, be sure to check out the new sellers on the shop. Megan also highlights Biscuit Authority, a new vendor on the PA Wilds Marketplace that sell farm-to-pet high quality dog treats.
