July 5 Weekly PA Wilds News Digest

July 5, 2024 Weekly Digest: Recent News from the PA Wilds

The PA Wilds Weekly Digest is a roundup of news articles about the PA Wilds, the region’s public lands and its Landscapes and Journeys that have been published over the past week.

Note: some of the news websites may have paywalls that prevent you from reading their content.

Enjoy this week’s PA Wilds News Clips below.

On the PA Wilds Center blog, an RFP has been issued on behalf of the PA Wilds Planning Team for a PWPT study. Responses are due by July 31.

On both the PA Wilds Center and WCO blog, a new resource guide is available for businesses and organizations that are looking for support, grants, funding opportunities, and more. On the WCO blog, the 2024 Buyer’s Guide is also available for those who want to buy locally made products and services.

On the PA Wilds visitor-facing blog, a new series with The Watershed Journal has started! Each month, the Journal will feature one story/poem and image from an edition of their quarterly magazine, written by talented local authors and highlighting something about this rural region.

Also on the PA Wilds visitor-facing blog, there is an overview of the PA Firefly Festival that recently took place in Forest County, along with tips for seeing and protecting these rare synchronous fireflies.

In PA Wilds-focused media, media outlets continue to cover the soft openings of the two new PA Wilds Conservations Shops at Marienville and Leonard Harrison State Park.
