During the Pennsylvania Wilds Annual Dinner last week 11 individuals and organizations were honored with PA Wilds Champion Awards for their outstanding efforts to grow nature and heritage tourism in rural PA.

The event was attended by a full house of more than 200 people. Guests included DCNR Secretary Cindy Dunn who offered heartfelt remarks about the character of the region and the success of the PA Wilds initiative. You can read all about the event and speakers HERE.

Ta Enos, director of the PA Wilds Center, presented exciting upcoming and ongoing projects including plans for the new gift shop at the Kinzua Bridge State Park visitor center opening this fall. The new visitor center will be another much needed tourist destination in the region. Later this week Ta will be posting five years of tourism statistics for the region, broken down by county. Check back for those numbers in a few days!
