Many industries intersect with nature and heritage tourism development in rural PA, from service sector businesses to manufacturing to artisan producers. What the PA Wilds Team has done is capture some of the inspiring stories we’ve found of successful local, rural entrepreneurs, and take them into the classroom to get the next generation thinking about what’s possible and why they might want to invest time in their region after high school.
The Inspiring Entrepreneurs Program is one class period long and focuses on grades 9-12. It has four learning objectives. Teachers sign up to have the workshop brought to their classroom. Once there, the presenter uses class exercises, real-life business stories from the region captured on film (watch a few!) and other tools such as handouts and visits by business owners to talk with the students about entrepreneurship in rural PA.
Our program is free to schools in the Pennsylvania Wilds. We do our best to accommodate all requests. Each year’s footprint is determined by available funding.Donate To This Program
