PA Wilds Center represents region at ARC’s Peer-to-Peer POWER Convening in Huntington, WV

ARC SPOTLIGHT:

Bringing POWER Leaders Together for a Stronger Economy

PA Wilds Center employees recently attended the ARC Peer-to-Peer POWER Convening in West Virginia to showcase the work we are doing across the Pennsylvania Wilds, partially supported by an ARC grant, and to network with other grantees from rural development initiatives across Appalachia. Read the summary article here.

To date, ARC has invested in nearly 100 projects specifically designed to build a stronger economy across 250 of the Region’s coal-impacted communities. These investments, totaling $92 million, will create or retain almost 8,600 jobs, leverage an additional $206 million in investment, and prepare thousands of workers and students with globally competitive skills and opportunities in the Region’s manufacturing, technology, entrepreneurship, agriculture, and other emerging sectors.

“Networking with innovative non-profits and social enterprises from similar rural backgrounds was incredible,” said PA Wilds Center Communications Director Kristin Marconi.

Said Abbi Peters, Managing Director for the PA Wilds, “The shared perspective and dedication of our ARC Power Grant peers allowed for a really high level exchange of ideas and best practices.”
