PA Wilds Center Seeks Proposals for Construction of Business Accelerator in Kane

Contractor Open House to be held April 11th

Kane — The PA Wilds Center for Entrepreneurship, Inc. (PA Wilds Center) has published a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the construction of the PA Wilds Media Labs space in Kane, PA, McKean County.

PA Wilds Center is seeking a Single Prime General Contractor for the project. The PA Wilds Media Labs is a tenant build-out on the second floor of the Broadbent-Stiteler building located at 59 N. Fraley Street in Kane, PA. The building is owned by the Laughing Owl Press Company, a letterpress business that occupies the first floor.

Proposals are due May 3, 2019 (extended). An open house to view the space and meet with project stakeholders will be held on April 11, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Candidates interested in attending the open house may RSVP to Abbi Peters [email protected]

The PA Wilds Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to integrate conservation and economic development in a way that strengthens and inspires communities in the Pennsylvania Wilds. PA Wilds Center is building rural PA’s largest network of creative entrepreneurs, and a lifestyle brand and commerce platform to help these local businesses get their products and services to market.

The PA Wilds Media Labs will be a new physical location to support this growing ecosystem. The PA Wilds Media Labs is a business accelerator space to support our entrepreneurial network through tools, technologies and professional development.

The project is approximately 5000 square feet of space. The construction scope will include all materials, work, means, and methods associated with general, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical construction. Preconstruction services may be required of the selected general contractor including estimating, scheduling, and technical input. The selected contractor will need to be a team player willing to work with PA Wilds Center, and the professional design team to achieve the project goals for budget, energy efficiency, schedule, and any additional project imperatives.

Selection of the contractor will be made based on qualifications and interviews.

The PA Wilds Center has partnered with West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund (WPPSEF), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), The Collins Companies Foundation and Envinity Inc. to design and build this space. As an extension of our passion for rural development, sustainability, and conservation stewardship, we seek to understand how this project can be a model for revitalization of main street America and be as energy efficient as possible on a practical budget.
